The Oakley Grange Story
In The Beginning It Was Oakley Grange Farm...
Now It's Oakley Grange Organic Farm, Café & Delicatessen!
Oakley Grange Organic Farm, between Hathern and Shepshed, has been farmed by the Mee family since just after the First World War. Times have certainly changed since then and it is now a sustainable Organic Farm with busy Café, Delicatessen and private events space in the old Grain Loft.
When Richard and Inger Mee took over in 2001 the Farm turned to the organic way of life and has never looked back! The Café & Delicatessen have always been part of the long term plan, but it was not until a European Grant was attained in 2011 that the dream became a reality and the Café & Delicatessen as we know them today opened their doors!
Whilst Richard looks after over 600 acres of farm and its animals, Inger and her 'front of house' team are the welcoming and friendly faces you will see in the Café. Quite often you will also see Ratti, the Farm's terrier, who is on 'meet and greet' duty!
Richard and Inger run several events throughout the year including a very popular Easter Egg Hunt, Farm Open Days and special Themed Evenings in the Café, full details of which can be found on the Events page by clicking here. On a daily basis, Inger's Danish influence can be seen in some of the items available in the Deli and tasted in some of the Danish recipes that are enjoyed by so many customers in the Cafe.
Oakley Grange Café and Delicatessen enjoy a delightful farm setting where you can park easily, then relax and enjoy the farming way of life while tasting some seriously delicious food prepared with only the best mainly organic ingredients. With excellent disabled facilities available and children's activity buckets, the Café is a relaxing place for everyone.
Richard and Inger's belief that well cared for animals and organically sustained land produce a tastier and healthier food source, is enhanced by their ethos that freshly prepared and properly cooked food is worth waiting for!
